The Joy of Movement: Pilates and Dance


Movement is crucial at every age. I’ve discovered that Pilates and dance are incredibly rewarding forms of exercise that nourish the body and spirit. As we age, maintaining strength, flexibility, and coordination becomes more important, and both practices help me achieve that.


Why Pilates?


Pilates emphasizes core strength, stability, and body awareness, making it ideal for navigating this exciting chapter of life. The beauty of Pilates lies in its versatility. It can meet you at any fitness level. For instance, beginner exercises like the Pelvic Curl strengthen the core while advanced moves like the Teaser can challenge even seasoned practitioners.


Incorporating Pilates into your routine can be transformative. Engaging in just two sessions per week can improve posture and balance by up to 30%. I can’t wait to share different routines, explore the benefits of each exercise, and provide tips on how to make these movements part of your daily life. Together, let’s keep our bodies strong, agile, and healthy!

The Freedom of Dance


Dance is another fantastic avenue to express creativity while staying fit. It’s joyous and liberating! The deeper I dive into music and movement, the more rejuvenated I feel. Whether it’s modern, jazz, or ecstatic dance on the rocks with my beloved Brandon, dancing lifts my spirits.


Research shows that regular dancing can decrease the risk of falls by 50% in older adults, thanks to improved balance and coordination. Expect to find dance tutorials, style explorations, and playlists that make you want to get up and move! Dancing is a celebration of life, and each step is a declaration of joy.

Books That Inspire Me


Nourishing our minds is just as vital as our physical movement. I’m an avid reader who delights in exploring books across various genres. Whether it's self-help, fiction, or memoirs, the inspiration within the pages is endless. I do love to cozy up to a good book and if time is limited I love listening to audio books.


In future posts, I will share reviews of books that have either brought joy or offered new perspectives. For example, This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Agism by Ashton Applewhite, celebrates aging, urging us to perceive it as an adventure rather than a limitation.
